Who is behind this, and how it is governed

Founder

JT Taylor MS, MBA founded NBOP.

He spent fifteen years in operating roles, including as international project manager for Les Mills, working across North American operations for a company built on licensed program distribution and certified practitioners. He has since worked as a fractional operator inside businesses scaling past the point where founder-led operations break down.

That background is the reason NBOP exists. The model of a published standard, certified practitioners, and licensed organizations is well established in other fields. It has never been built for business operations.

Standards committee

Being assembled. The committee will hold responsibility for the body of knowledge, domain weighting, and the revision schedule. Members will be named on this page, with their operating backgrounds, before the first version of the standard is ratified. The terms of reference it will run under are published in full already, so anyone considering serving can read the rules before saying yes rather than after.

Until that is done, this page names one person. That is a statement of where the organization currently is, not a claim of consensus.

How NBOP is funded

NBOP will be funded by certification and recertification fees paid by candidates or their employers, and by license fees paid by organizations that adopt the standard internally.

It does not take payment for placement, referral, or introduction of certified practitioners to employers, and it does not accept payment from any party in exchange for a certification outcome.

Separation from other ventures

JT Taylor operates other businesses, including Notebook of a COO, which publishes content and provides operational services. Those are separate ventures.

NBOP sets the standard and administers the assessment. Preparation may be offered by any provider. No candidate is required to purchase preparation from NBOP, from Notebook of a COO, or from any party connected to the founder, and doing so confers no advantage in assessment.

This separation is stated here because a body that certifies its own customers, without saying so, is the most common failure in this category.

Accessibility of assessment

Federal law requires that examinations related to professional certification be offered in a place and manner accessible to people with disabilities, and NBOP treats that as a design requirement rather than an exception process.

Reasonable accommodations are available on request, at no additional cost to the candidate, and requesting one has no bearing on the assessment outcome or on how a result is reported. The accommodations process, including what documentation is required and the timeline for a decision, will be published before the first assessment is administered.

What NBOP does not claim

• It is not accredited by any third-party accreditation body. If that changes, it will be stated here with the accreditor named.
• It does not represent that certification produces any employment, promotion, or earnings outcome.
• It does not place, refer, or introduce practitioners to employers.
• It is not a school, and does not confer any academic degree or award.
• Certification is not a license to practice. Business operations is not a licensed profession and NBOP-CP does not grant any legal right or privilege.
