The registry
Status. No credentials have been issued yet. Applications to sit the assessment are not open, so every search on this page currently returns nothing, and that is the true answer rather than a fault. The register and verification are live now so that the machinery is public and checkable before the first certificate exists rather than after. The most useful thing an operator can do in the meantime is help set the weighting of the standard.
Every credential NBOP issues is checkable here, free, by anyone, forever. Holders choose whether to appear in search. They do not choose whether their credential can be verified.
Verifying a specific certificate number always works, including for holders who opted out of this directory, and including for credentials that have expired or been revoked. A credential you can hide from an employer is not a credential.

This register answers one question: does this certificate exist, and whose is it. Finding somebody to hire is a different question, and it has its own page rather than a second search box here that answers it worse.

The directory lists every holder who chose to appear, with whatever they chose to write about themselves, in an order that is shuffled for every visitor. Nothing in it can be bought and no holder is ranked above another.
What this register is for
A certificate that only its holder can produce is worth very little to the person deciding whether to hire them. This register exists so that the claim can be checked by the party who actually needs to check it, without contacting us and without the holder's cooperation.
It is also, deliberately, a place for employers to look for operators. A credential that helps someone get hired is worth paying for. One that only proves something after the fact is not.
What we publish, and what we do not

A holder who has not published their domain breakdown is not hiding a bad result. It is off by default for everyone, and we say so on every record so that its absence carries no signal.
The register is the credential
A certificate is only worth the register behind it.
Every credential NBOP issues has a permanent public address that anyone can check without asking the holder for anything, and that address keeps telling the truth after the credential expires or is revoked.
